Something to work on while we're in different places all summer --
Okay July is officially over.
Found a great resource in the Bedford Ukulele Group ( the original one, in UK) http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/
Tons of music in a nice format http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/page3.html
All the chords you will (hopefully) ever need: http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/chords_v4s.pdf Good to keep a copy for your practice book
Their 2013 Christmas book is excellent - http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/BUG%20xmas%20book%202013.pdf
Separately, Silent Night (picking tab) http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/silent-night%20Picking%20Tab.pdf -- If you don't know what the "tab" means, talk to me or ask around, once you know how to read it, it will be very handy.
Page 4 of the AYB songbook http://bedfordukulelegroup.co.uk/ayb_song_dance%20book.pdf is a wonderful rendition of "Aint She Sweet", note the tuning is not GCEA, but the finger positions are curiously familiar. If you have a capo and clamp it on the second fret, that is the banjolele tuning ... The first four lines (16 measures of "intro" might make a nice intro for us as well, just need to try it out).
Finally on page 6 of the AYB songbook, a suggestion from Sally, "Crazy Words, Crazy Tune" --
The PDF of the uke chords is the last one listed in the "C"s -- http://www.shukulele.com/c.html and a link to a youtube for the melody.

overcoming stage fright
Joe Kowan shares how he dealt (and continues to deal) with the fear factor we all deal with, in doing things in front of people. Hint: imagining them with no clothes is not necessarily helpful -- is it any better to perform in front of a lot of naked strangers ? http://on.ted.com/stagefright Joe uses a baritone uke, which is a small guitar with only the top 4 strings. And check out his strap!

mobile app for shukulele
Note: experimental, if it stops working, just delete the shortcut.
Scan below for mobile app. CAUTION: for phones with limited unused storage make sure you know how to "reset" your phone BEFORE you do this. Or, go to http://shukulele.mobapp.at
If your phone gets "stuck" or won't respond, follow these steps: For most android phones, just take the battery out if everything else fails (power button doesn't do anything). For iPhones / iPod / iPad: HOLD the power button down, and HOLD the home button (at bottom), and don't let go until the lights go out. You may have to hold both buttons for 15 seconds or longer.
On iPhone, once you open the URL use the "arrow coming out of box" icon, and "Add to Home Screen" and Save to directly start the mobile app. Takes some time to start, be patient and enjoy the picture of the tshirt.

If you do not already have a QR code reader, search for "shopsavvy" -- http://shopsavvy.com/
